See you there.. :) http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Mojo-Band/115864515119446 Biography It all started when Yogi (Mihai Paveliu), Ionut Nistor and Georgian Nitu decided to move from Galati, to a new and unknown challenge in 2005 - Bucharest. Having a hard time at first, with all the difficulties of a new hometown, they managed to put themselves together, and carry on their project: Verde’n Fata. The group lasted shortly due to lead singer’s health problems. Meanwhile, Matt Highley came along and this is how the story really begins. The band started as: The Light Fantastic. They loved it, but felt it lacked certain ring to it, so they decided later on The MOJO. The Light Fantastic took birth when Matt started covering the singer of “Verde’n Fata” and after playing for a while, Yogi, Ionut, and Georgian, decided to break away from the band to start a new project with Matt. After finding Silviu Matala, their original bass player, they started working on songs that Matt had written. After the summer of 2006 Silviu was forced to leave the band due to bad health (and will always be missed), but was replaced by his guitar playing friend Ionut Vrabie, who fitted in so well inside the band with his attitude and playing style, that they didn’t consider anyone else. This is the point the band felt it’s reached the desired formula, permanent and dedicated…but it did not really happen. It took them another 3 years to actually reach the perfect setup. Line ups The band had a rough time finding the people committed to the group, while the nucleus remained unchanged over time, but could not settle on a bass player. Also rhythm guitar player Horia Mocian had broken up with them in 2006, leaving the position available…and it remained so, for nearly a year. The summer of 2007 brought guitarist Daniel Radu, when Yogi and Matt went to the sea side with some friends. They met Daniel on the beach of Mangalia, where he was playing the guitar and having fun with his friends. He was committed to another band that time (one that came apart eventually), but still, was approached by lead guitarist Yogi. Slightly different styles, but a common interest: good music. Having the lineup improved with fresh blood, left only one spot that was unfilled…the bass player. In late 2007, the band met bassist Alex Stanciu, but due to several argues, he left in the summer of 2008. Daniel came with the idea of bring his drummer-friend from the former group, Vlad Goleanu, who also played the bass in a previous band, and introducing him to the guys. It was love at first sight. The band really took it up a notch, and had begun to mature even more without having stopped in its evolution, now having a strong and stable lineup. Although keyboard player Georgian Nitu had some departures, leaving the band several times, he finally settled in 2009. No one could really replace him successfully anyway… At the end of November 2011, Ionut Nistor decided it's time to focus on another business he developed and he was successfully replaced by Cristi Gherghescu.
