It was the winter of 2001. Burlington, Vermont was a cold and depressing place for a young maniacal alcoholic weed smoking pervert, and two of the soon-to-be most successful examples of such people were just getting started on their first musical masterpiece. You see, they were in Vermont to go to college and learn about the art of cinema and to become scholars, but their fate was incommensurable to what they had expected.
One, Sleazy-E had made his way to Burlington College- up from his home town: Washington D.C. The other, DJ Maffmatix, brought his skinny as up from Boston, MA. They became homies and quickly began making short films and music videos for fun as well as to hone their craft, but it wasn’t until half way into the first year of school that they decided that “studying” was for the birds, and rapping was where it was at. Granted, they would stick with filmmaking for many years to come, but their destiny for something truly amazing was approaching.
Their first album, “Ouch, It’ Not Supposed to Bend That Way!” was released after many nights of recording inside a smoke filled room with nothing but Maffmatix’s video camera as a mic, Sleazy’s keyboard and a computer and some dirty socks. Still, the light-hearted originality as well as the hillariously filthy material made for something “special”.
The album was a smash hit, with such golden nuggets as “Broke Ass Pimp” and “Tony Shaloub Stole My Girlfriend” leaving crowds with trousers full of shit. The album also boasted such hit-singles as “Fecal Matter (Does it Really Matter?)” and “20 Foot Cock” to name a few.
With such positive feedback coming at them with such rapidity after the release of their debut album, Sleazy and Maffmatix knew that DB was destined for fame- no matter how long it would take. They wisely decided to drop out of school and leave ‘Buttingon’ forever. It didn’t take long for them to decide that the next destination would obviously be Los Angeles. So off they went to La-La Land & Hollyweird.
As the years, beers, queers and steers went by, so did more DB albums. Countless nights of Boone’s Farms “wine” bottles drank, endless smoking sessions and psychedelic trips experienced, numerous unique nights and retarded days led to 4 officially released albums and about 3 more albums that were never really shown to the public except for a mixtape entitled “Hidden Bullshit” on DatPiff.com.
Now, Maff and Sleaze-bucket are seasoned veterans of the game (the “game” of course being scumbags). They’ve been paid to make music. They’ve been on MTV promoting DB. They’ve been brought to interesting places to make music videos. They’ve been approacheded by numerous people of all shapes and sizes and encouraged. Basically, DB is doing what DB was meant to do. To slowly creep up on the world and rip it’s balls off.It was the winter of 2001.
