Age: 27 years old
Ian Alejandro Guerin Arroyo (June 23rd 1990) best known by his stage name Ian Guerin, is an independent Mexican recording artist, songwriter and producer. Ian recorded his first song at the age of 9 and has been making music ever since.
He recorded his first covers album called “Ian 1” in 2001 and a follow up called “Magical Me” in 2002. He subsequently recorded a Michael Jackson tribute album called “Revenge” in 2004. Ian had his first live experience, at age 13, when he sang Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” at his high school’s talent show. He then wrote his first song called “How Can I Explain” when he was 14. One year later, at age 15, he recorded his first self-written track; the country oriented song “1 Chance.”
From 2007 to 2010 Ian recorded more than two dozen demos in his home studio. He also produced a Techno Instrumental album called “Spin that S**t,” & remixed more than fifteen famous songs & added self-penned rap verses to all of them. Some of the all new songs he wrote in that time are “Innocence,” “Juntos,” “Black Dress,” “Fake Love,” & “Mirage,” among others. He also recorded big band covers, like “That’s Life” & “Kissing a Fool.”
Ian Guerin released his first official single “Bubblegum” on August, 27th 2010. The song was written by Guerin & produced by longtime colleague/friend Azhmir Vangort at Vangort Soundworks. “Bubblegum” was released on iTunes and other retailers like Rhapsody, Zune, Amazon MP3, Napster, Shockhound.
Rapper/singer/songwriter/producer DBXXL, whom Ian met via twitter, remixed the song and delivered Bubblegum (Dbxxl’s Eass Eass Eass Remix) also known as “Bubblegum” (Dbxxl’s Boomin’ Body Remix.) DBXXL wrote three new rap verses for the track.
Three months after the release of “Bubblegum” Ian premiered his second official single “I Heart.” The song premiered on all of the singer’s sites and for sale on iTunes and other retailers on December, 15th 2010, to good reviews. In June 2011 a music video was shot in support of “I Heart.” The official video was directed and produced by talented film making couple Marlene Guerin & Daniel Valdés and is currently available on IanGuerinVEVO. That summer Ian headlined a three city mini tour called “The Madsexy Shows” to promote the release of his “I Heart” video.
“Madsexy,” his debut studio album, was released on August 29th, 2012. To bring his vision to life Ian worked with a variety of producers such as Azhmir Vangort, Jacobo Martinez and Iulius Zarate Lara. Although “Madsexy” was mainly recorded at Vangort Soundworks, & produced by Azhmir Vangort, tracks “Forever Rose” & “Toast to the Good Times” were not. Instead, the first was produced & recorded at Cuarto Armónico by Jacobo Martinez & the second was produced at Cuarto Armónico by Jacobo Martinez & recorded at Zalive Studios by Iulius Zarate Lara.
Three singles from the album were released prior to its arrival. Its first single "Bubblegum” was released on August 27th, 2010. It became Ian’s first hit peaking at #20 on Reverbnation’s International Chart & became a fan favorite on I Heart Radio. It also gathered over 4000 plays on the now extinct iSound.com, "Bubblegum” remains one of the singer’s most emblematic songs to date. The album's second single "I Heart" was released on December 15, 2010, to similar success. It is Ian’s top selling song; doing well even in countries like Indonesia. It is also known as one of the singer’s signature tracks, along with “Bubblegum,” & his top stream on the German, U.K. & U.S.A. Spotify.
“Madsexy” was the third official & lead single to the album. It was released on June 20, 2012, along with its music video. With over 50,000 hits on Youtube, “Madsexy” has been reviewed, as “Guerin’s strongest, most, appealing song to date.” "Madsexy" was also Guerin’s debut single on Spotify & Deezer, & though the single version has since been removed, the album version remains a top stream.
On June 17th 2013 "New V.I.P." was released as the album’s fourth single & first after the LP’s official release. Although, "New V.I.P." did not have an accompanying music video, it is one of Guerin’s top 5 Streams on Deezer & a Spotify fan favorite in U.K. México & Germany. It is also very popular on Rdio, 7Digital, Shazam searches & Guerin’s only popular song on Xbox Music.
In the summer of 2014 Ian opened his VEVO channel, IanGuerinVEVO, where he released his classic videos & premiered his new single "Pop This Jam (Moondance Version) FT. DJ Gerahv" on September 9th, 2014. "Jam" quickly became Ian's biggest opening ever, generating over 20K hits on VEVO & over 200K impressions within' 48 hours. Meanwhile, Pop This Jam (Hip Hop Version), a collaboration between Ian & Australian producers Phat Records, was released on October 21st, 2014 via an alternate Youtube channel called: IanGuerinOFFVEVOChannel.
Unlike the Moondance Version, the Hip Hop Version did not retail on mainstream stores, instead it is up for Free Download on Guerin's Soundcloud & Band Camp pages. On November 2014, Ian Guerin's only Official Non-Profit Release Pop This Jam (Hip Hop Version) [Prod. By Phat Records] WON a BEAT100 U.K. Silver Song Award for "Well Written Original Song" & a Press Award thanks to its crush-friendly, genuine love lyrics, vocal melodies & construction.
On December 12th, it made its American Radio Debut on WGTSDB's "The Gud Tymez Show." Due to its success, it also spanned a remix called "Jam Forever" available for retail worldwide since December 10th, 2014. On February 2015 Pop This Jam (Hip Hop Version) topped the BEAT 100 U.K. World Chart (1 week), the R&B/Hip Hop Chart (3 weeks) & the Original Chart (1 week).
The release of Ian’s NEW R&B SINGLE “Cry” on June 22nd was followed by overwhelming sales success in the USA (it debuted near the Top 40 of the R&B/Soul New Releases iTunes Chart in the USA [#44], according to theartofmix.com and itopchart.com & to stellar reviews of its Music Video available on IANGUERINVEVO.
“Cry peaked at #31 of the R&B/Soul New Releases Chart on iTunes USA & has been featured as “Track of the Week” on Musician Weekly & Best Damn Music. It has also opened magazine feature opportunities for the singer on R&B/Rap Digital Mag. & Beat Station Magazine (now known as Art Attack Magazine), among others.
Upon release “Cry” went on to win two BEAT 100 U.K. Awards & a promotion medal:
1• A&R SILVER SONG AWARD, Awarded to (Well Written Original Songs)
1• A&R SILVER VIDEO AWARD, Awarded to (High Quality Original Videos with Good Production Values)
“Cry” also went on to Top the Sing Rush USA R&B Chart for the week ending July 10th, 2015 and the R&B BEAT 100 Chart. On Top 40 charts in the U.K. “Cry” also performed well peaking at #7 on the BEAT 100 World Chart & at #5 on its Original Songs Chart. “Cry” made its debut on American Airwaves on Tuesday July 21st 2015 on WGTS-DB’s “The Gud Tymez Show,” & was later served to AC, R&B & R&B/Soul stations nationwide & in the United Kingdom; where its charting performance has strongly relied on both audio & video streamings, sales, popular vote, social media impressions & airplay, though the last has been limited to select stations. Last but not least “Cry’s” overall digital media impact and chart performance has earned Guerin more exposure than he has ever had. It also serves as the first single of Ian’s follow up to 2012’s “Madsexy” due in the spring 2016. Please note Ian’s next album will be his first since his successful R&B crossover.
