Moon Light is the Oliverson family, called “The most talented and entertaining family since the Osmonds” by L.A. Talk Radio. Hailed as a “Modern Mozart” Moon Light features eighteen-year-old Aubree Oliverson—a 2016 Presidential Scholar in the Arts and a YoungArts National Winner for Violin Performance, from over 16,000 applicants nationwide. Aubree has appeared on National Public Radio’s popular program From The Top a record four times, and was also an invited soloist at their year end Gala in Boston. Aubree was a winner in the American Protege International Strings Competition and soloed at Carnegie Hall Hall at age twelve. She made her symphony solo debut with the Utah Symphony at age eleven, and has since soloed with them several times, including her performance of the complete Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto at age thirteen to multiple standing ovations. Aubree won Utah’s Best-of-State Award as Utahʼs Top Entertainer and performed at the Salt Palace at age twelve. She won in the the Hennings-Fischer, Utah Chamber Artists, Pasadena Young Artist, Parness, Rio Hondo, and the American Youth Symphony Concerto Competitions, and was a multiple Utah Symphony Salute-to-Youth winner and Utah Stradivarius Competition winner. Aubree was a national finalist and winner of the Southwestern States competition of the MTNA, a Stulberg International Strings Competition Finalist, and most recently won the prestigious Dorothy DeLay Memorial Violin Competition at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Aubree was Concertmaster for the Gifted Music School Orchestra of Salt Lake City for two years, and at age fifteen was one of only a select few students throughout the world invited to attend the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angeles—where through competitive audition she won the position of Concertmaster for the Colburn Virtuosi Orchestra, and served in that position for two years until her high school graduation. Aubree has soloed with a wide variety of orchestras and musical groups, performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center, New World Center, Royce Hall, Delta Center, Salt Palace, Musco Center, Kentucky Center, Ambassador Auditorium, and Sundance Film Festival, and is a highly sought after chamber musician who has performed with artists such Joseph Silverstein, Stefan Jackiw, and Robert Mcduffie. Aubree is a multiple state and national composition winner and along with her father has co-composed and recorded six acclaimed CD albums and several music videos. Aubree was recently featured in the “Rising Stars” Concert in the Florida Keys, and at the International Musicians Seminar in Prussia Cove England. She has upcoming performances in Missouri, Japan, Florida, Burbank, and UCLA. She began her bachelors degree in violin performance on full scholarship at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in the Fall of 2016.
Besides his awards and recognitions as a pianist, composer, and producer—including a Utah Best-of-State award for music composition, Dr. Stephen Oliverson was a collegiate and all-state athlete, a distinguished military officer and graduate, and is also an award-winning educator including Principal-of-the-Year, National Distinguished School Principal, Huntsman Excellence-In-Education Award winner, and a featured speaker at national conventions. Stephen and Aubree’s music has been featured on stage and radio, and they have performed in hundreds of venues from Seattle to Washington D.C. Moon Light has several beautifully produced music videos on their YouTube channel, three having reached the top ten on video music charts. Stephen’s two youngest children, Andrew (16) and Lily (13) are also excellent musicians and join their sister and father in many Moon Light productions. Andrew and Lily have both won awards for composition and were both part of a select few students from South, Central, and North America chosen to participate in Suzuki Youth Orchestra of the Americas in Minneapolis. Lily and Andrew are members of the Gifted Music School of Salt Lake City and been featured soloists. Locally, Moon Light has performed in venues such as Abravanel Hall, Salt Palace, Gallivan Center, BYU Education Week, Temple Square, Sundance Film Festival, Gardner Hall, and The Oliverson family has performed in over 100 schools throughout the intermountain West, motivating and inspiring children to work hard and participate in music.
