Age: 19 years old
The fresh, energetic and heartfelt music of Beyond The Sun celebrates the Canadian band’s belief that lyrics and melodies can tell an on-going, universal story and help human beings connect powerfully through their many diverse experiences. Through catchy yet personal tunes that sparkle with infinite layers of harmony, guitarist Phil, lead vocalist Colin and drummer Dalton unleash tunes that resonate personally with their audiences. Already seasoned performers and songwriters well beyond their years, the brothers’ playful yet wise songwriting style honors their most powerful influences, from the raw intensity of Creed and The Stereophonics, to the delicate subtlety of artists like Gavin DeGraw and The Fray. And their dynamic live shows demonstrate their on-going commitment to mastering their instruments and also channel the enthusiasm of performers such as Mark Tremonti, John Mayer and Ben Wysocki. Phil, Dalton and Colin discovered their endless appetite for music at an early age. Growing up in an environment where creativity, the Arts and humor were equally supported, they immersed themselves in many styles of music, from pop, rock and folk, to rap and hip hop. They began to explore instruments even before they began to study them formally, finding limitless ways to make music from their toys and other objects they discovered in the world. After forming Beyond The Sun, the trio immediately garnered the attention of audiences throughout their home country and elsewhere. At ages 7, 9 and 12, the band was the youngest in history to showcase at Canadian Music Week, qualifying shortly thereafter as a finalist in 97.7 HTZ FM's Rocksearch. Their on-going passion for learning everything they possibly can about the musical universe and for prolifically chronicling their adventures through song allows them to push past the conventional boundaries of pop music as they mature as artists. Warming up instantly to the demands of the recording studio, Beyond The Sun released its debut EP, Jekyll and Hyde in 2009 and has continued to maintain an ambitious schedule of live shows. Members of the band have fully committed to honing their musical craft: Phil has been at Berklee College of Music since the Fall of 2010 as a songwriting major; Dalton excels in music production courses at Berklee’s prestigious online program, and Colin studies vocal technique at the Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy in Los Angeles. The band’s second 5-song EP, My Kind of Crazy, was produced by Rick Beato (NEEDTOBREATHE, Boys Like Girls) at Black Dog Sound Recording Studios in Atlanta and is available NOW.The fresh, energetic and heartfelt music of Beyond The Sun celebrates the Canadian band’s belief that lyrics and melodies can tell an on-going, universal story and help human beings connect power... read more.
